The Hurting

The Hurting is the debut album of the well-known British pop band Tears for Fears. It was released on March 7, 1983, and reached the no. 1 position on the UK Album Chart and no. 73 in the US album chart in the same year. The album was certified Platinum by the BPI in January 1985 and Gold by the US RIAA in 1993. The album was reissued and remastered in 1999, which includes additional tracks of four remixes and an extensive booklet, which described the albums recording process.

Roland Orzabal, excluding “Pale Shelter” which was written by both Orzabal and Smith, has written all of the songs.

“Mad World” gained the 3rd position in the UK Chart Singles in 1982. “Change” on the other hand gained the 4th position in 1983; “Pale Shelter” went on 5th on the same year. “Change” also made it to the US Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart at number 22 and then again at the US Billboard Pop Singles Chart at number 73 in the same year.
